St Andrews Baptist Church Members and HB Rhame Saints

Our involvement at Rhame will be a little different than in past years. We will be sharing the responsibility of meeting the needs of the students and staff by partnering with some nearby churches. Each church has a contact person so we can coordinate needs and not overlap or overextend. Sandra Deming will represent SABC. Call her if you can have concerns or questions (843-610-9901).

Here are some ways you can be involved:

· Participate in a Prayer Walk on Saturday August 12 at 8:30 AM. You will come to Rhame Elem and park and then as a group we will walk around the outside of the school grounds and silently pray for each classroom/teacher and anything else such as the playground area, teacher/staff parking lot, bus area, Cafeteria, etc. Continue to pray daily for Rhame Elementary.

· Volunteer in person at the school on your time schedule and frequency. You must complete an online volunteer form (background check) before you are allowed to be with the students. The form is located on Richland One website. A background check is good for only 3 years.

· Purchase gift cards instead of school supplies. Gift cards will be collected at SABC for the first 2 Sundays in September and then passed on to Rhame Educators. Classroom teachers can purchase additional supplies as needed. We will collect additional gift cards in January.

Priority Needs for SABC Volunteers:

1. Listen and Assist 3rd graders with reading skills so that they can be successful with ‘Read to Succeed’ Program;

2. Assist with monitoring students during lunches {10:00-12:00} so that Teachers can have the “unencumbered 30 minute” allotted time put into law for this year;

3. Eat lunch with an assigned ‘Lunch Buddy” beginning in Oct;

4. Assist with ‘Reading Matters’;

5. Provide activities/treats for special holidays;

6. Donate gently used children’s clothes/shoes for emergencies.
